Junco

The Junco is a migrant bird at Breeches that we see in the Autumn on their way south and in the Spring on their way to their breeding grounds in the Arctic Circle. The most common variety is the Slate-Coloured Junco, slate-coloured above and grayish-white below, but the most distinctive characteristic is the flashing of the white outer tail feathers. It also has a white bill. Its size is about 6 inches long, similar to a Sparrow.
